DIGITAL IMAGING & ILLUSTRATION

"A picture is worth one thousand words."

Where a picture is worth a thousand words — the right picture is priceless. And if the right one doesn’t exist, SP Studios will create it through digital composite and photo-illustration.

We have digitally retouched hundreds of images of top models and products for international fashion, luxury goods, and cosmetics companies, often creating new photo-illustrations through digital drawing, painting and compositing. When you have a lot to say and need to make an impact, SP Studios will create the right picture. We will output to hardcopy, digital file, film or transparency.

Below are examples of digital imaging, retouching, and photo-illustration by SP Studios.
(Scroll to the bottom for descriptions.)

(A)
CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF MANHATTAN: INVENTOR CENTER
Hewlett-Packard (HP) funded a permanent exhibit space in the Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM), and CMOM hired SP Studios to develop and design the logo as well as all of the visual display graphics and wall panels. The top image was printed in full color on a 30 foot long wall, showing some of the exciting inventions in recent history – with a strong nod to HP. The other horizontal graphic was an exhibit panel designed and produced by SP Studios to show many of the different inventions that are the basis from which a modern bicycle is conceived. (Finished sizes: 30'x 12'; 4-color digital wide-format Dupont Prints; mounted).

(B)
CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OF MANHATTAN: INVENTOR CENTER
For added excitement and visual continuity, the entrance to the Inventor Center was framed by 8-foot high and 3-foot wide backlit transparencies. SP Studios designed and produced these duratrans which were used in the construction of the entrance. (Finished sizes: (2) 96" x 36"; 4-color digital Duratrans).

(C)
LOUIS VUITTON CLASSIC AT ROCKEFELLER CENTER: PR IMAGES
Displaying more than 50 of the planet's most exotic cars in this international Concours d'Elegance, the LV Classic drew crowds in excess of 1.5 million visitors to New York City's famed Rockefeller Center. This image was created by SP Studios for pre-event publicity and was reproduced globally in various fashion magazines (Vogue, Elle, etc.).

(D)
LOUIS VUITTON CLASSIC AT ROCKEFELLER CENTER: POSTER IMAGE
SP Studios created this image for use in the 4th annual Louis Vuitton Classic at Rockefeller Center. It appeared on the promotional poster, storefront displays, printed invitations, as well as the cover of the Concours d'Elegance printed program.

LOUIS VUITTON / CHRISTIAN DIOR
These three projects are representative of a series of direct mail invitations – conceived, designed and produced by SP Studios – and sent to top-tier Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton US customers, requesting their presence at exclusive, local ‘trunk shows’. Leveraging existing model photographs, SP Studios digitally created whimsical and geographically appropriate photo-illustrations. (Finished sizes: 7" x 5"; 4-color digital process on uncoated premium cover).

TIFFANY & CO: COFFEE TABLE BOOKS
Re-touching digital images is often the most cost effective way to bring a photo up to the highest standards. SP Studios has retouched hundreds of images for New York's famous Tiffany and Co. In the example shown above – the cover of coffee table book Tiffany’s 20th Century (Harry N. Abrams) – SP Studios heavily retouched this publicity photo of Audrey Hepburn, taken in 1961 for her role in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. (Note: image used courtesy of Paramount Pictures. Breakfast at Tiffany’s ©1961 by Paramount Pictures. All rights reserved. Audry Hepburn image license arranged by The Roger Richman Agency, Inc. with the license fee donated by Tiffany & Co. to The Audry Hepburn Hollywood for Children Fund.)

LOUIS VUITTON: PRESENTATION IMAGE
When the President of luxury and leather goods maker Louis Vuitton held a 'round-up' of his North American employees and their european counterparts, the theme of the conference was 'the wild west.' SP Studios created this memorable photo-illustration for use in a digital presentation.

(J)
TIFFANY & CO: PRODUCT DESIGN ILLUSTRATION
SP Studios was hired by Tiffany & Co. to conceive a new watch design – in a bracelet and a strap version – to extend Tiffany’s successful line of Atlas watches. The example above is a set of renderings produced in the series of design drawings.

SP STUDIOS: PRODUCT DESIGN ILLUSTRATION
SP Studios design concept for a crystal paperweight. Rendering partially done in Strata computer 3-D software.

(L)
AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY: MARKETING IMAGE
SP Studios created this above photo-illustration image for use in marketing the American Museum of Natural History’s highly successful Junior Council membership group. The image was used primarily in print marketing materials and highlighted some of the interesting events and lecture topics – including DNA research, vikings and space exploration – presented to Junior Council Members.

(M)
LOUIS VUITTON: CONFERENCE LOGO
The global luxury goods giant hired SP Studios to design and produce the key visuals for many annual meetings and events. Each year includes a new location, theme, and materials such as: corporate PowerPoint presentations, printed programs, Invitations, and thematically appropriate gift items. This logo was reproduced in a variety of mediums.
